When working with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), some traumas will include the loss of a loved one. In these cases, differentiating between PTSD and grief reactions to the loss has important treatment implications. In this workshop, Dr. Sandy Capaldi will discuss this differential diagnosis, reviewing the definitions of bereavement, mourning, and grief; discuss the dual processes and types of grief; review the diagnostic criteria for PTSD and Prolonged Grief Disorder; and discuss evidence-based therapeutic techniques to treat both.
This virtual training is free to attend and is intended for mental health clinicians and those who have clinical experience with trauma, PTSD, and grief.
BHTEN is a co-sponsor of this workshop. CEUs are available.
