CBH CIO Awarded CHCIO Certification from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives

PHILADELPHIA, PA – September 8, 2022 – Community Behavioral Health (CBH) is pleased to announce that CIO Julia Zhou was awarded the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ (CHIME) Certified Healthcare CIO designation.

Launched in 2008, CHIME’s CHCIO program is the only certification designed exclusively for leaders in health information technology. Currently, more than 700 health care CIOs in 23 countries have earned the certification, which represents one of the highest professional achievements in the industry.

“Earning the CHCIO designation demonstrates Julia’s outstanding commitment to continued leadership, innovation and education in the behavioral health space,” said Faith Dyson Washington, PhD, CEO of CBH. “Her deep expertise in IT and business intelligence plays a key role in helping CBH stay at the forefront of, and address urgent gaps in, behavioral health care.”

To achieve CHCIO status, candidates must have at least three years of experience in the position, participate in programs and events that continue their education as an IT leader and pass a rigorous examination. These qualifications ensure that the CIO is truly dedicated to ongoing education, an important characteristic in an industry where patients pay the price for becoming stagnant.

“Health care is undergoing a massive transformation,” said Russell Branzell, CHCIO, president and CEO of CHIME. “We are shifting to a value-based environment, improving coordination across the continuum and striving to reduce costs. Health IT is critical to achieving these goals. The CHCIO designation is a recognition that a CIO has the skills necessary to be a strategic leader in the organization.”
