Charles A. Altman, MD, MBA
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Charles (Chip) Altman is the Chief Medical Officer at CBH, where he oversees the organization’s team of physician advisors and develops and implements strategies that improve outcomes for CBH members.
Dr. Altman is a board-certified psychiatrist with an extensive career that spans both active clinical practice and executive roles in managed care, research and development, and medical affairs within the pharmaceutical industry. Having interned with CBH in 1996 before its official launch in 1997, he has gone on to hold several leadership positions at other health care organizations, including Medical Director, Public Sector/Medicaid at Magellan Health, and Head of U.S. Medical Affairs & Policy at Seqirus.
Dr. Altman maintains a part-time private psychiatric practice in Devon, PA and serves as a Psychiatric Consultant at Haverford College and Ursinus College. He has also previously held several clinical roles, including Supervising Addiction Psychiatrist at Recovery Center of America and Chief of the Department of Psychiatry at Chestnut Hill Hospital.
Dr. Altman earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine before completing his psychiatric specialty training at the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration in health care management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Princeton University.
