SUMMARY:Uncovering Another Secret: Child-to-Caregiver Violence
DESCRIPTION:Child-to-caregiver violence (CCV) is a growing but often overlooked form of family violence. Many professionals struggle to safely and effectively intervene with aggressive children\, overwhelmed caregivers\, and systems designed for other types of abuse. This training introduces two key strategies for addressing CCV. \nFirst\, participants will learn to screen for CCV using the validated Child-to-Parent Violence Questionnaire (CPV-Q-P)\, which helps ensure safety and reduces bias—especially against marginalized youth. Second\, the training outlines a six-stage treatment framework based on Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT). This model supports caregivers in restoring safety\, repairing attachment\, and building functional\, nurturing family structures. Clinical video examples and discussion will help professionals apply these strategies to their specific roles. \nThis training offers CEUs. Registration deadline: October 13\, 2025

SUMMARY:Family Therapy for Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder & Intellectual Delay
DESCRIPTION:This workshop focuses on supporting clinicians in viewing the family as a critical partner in care when working with youth with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual delay (ID). Why? ASD and ID profoundly impact family life. Clinicians will learn about mastering critical skills\, including how to build and maintain rewarding family relationships\, creating growth-enhancing family-based social activities for non-verbal or limited verbal youth\, and parent-guided behavioral therapy techniques. \nThis introductory program will demonstrate\, using video-recorded sessions\, how clinicians use a family systems lens integrated with play and behavioral therapy to strengthen the joining process with caregivers. Underlying this process is the focus on enhancing executive parenting through guided in-session practice\, especially caregiver-child co-regulation. \nThe target audience will be professionals working with families and youth diagnosed with ASD and IDD who would like to increase their ability to provide meaningful intervention. SUMMARY:Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Substance Use Disorders
DESCRIPTION:Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that uses the four core skills of mindfulness\, acceptance & distress tolerance\, emotional regulation\, and interpersonal effectiveness to treat out-of-control behaviors\, including suicide and self-harm. There is a large overlap between problem substance use and suicide behaviors\, for which DBT-SUD is a good option for intervention for many individuals. Further\, for individuals with certain comorbidities\, DBT may be the treatment of choice. This training will familiarize you with some key concepts and help you distinguish differences between standard comprehensive DBT and DBT-SUD. \nThis free\, virtual training is open to anyone in the CBH/DBHIDS network\, but is especially relevant for providers and clinicians working with SUD populations. DESCRIPTION:There is a range of addiction severity to cigarettes\, cigars\, vapes and other nicotine delivery devices. Simply stated\, some of us are more hooked than others which is why one stop smoking strategy doesn’t work for everyone. It’s not about quitting\, it about learning replacement coping skills. This session defines the physical\, behavioral\, and emotional aspects of tobacco use disorder and provides a framework for developing an individualized “tobacco recovery” plan. \nRegistration closes on January 1\, 2025.
