SUMMARY:PTSD or Grief: Treatment Implications
DESCRIPTION:When working with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)\, some traumas will include the loss of a loved one. In these cases\, differentiating between PTSD and grief reactions to the loss has important treatment implications. In this workshop\, Dr. Sandy Capaldi will discuss this differential diagnosis\, reviewing the definitions of bereavement\, mourning\, and grief; discuss the dual processes and types of grief; review the diagnostic criteria for PTSD and Prolonged Grief Disorder; and discuss evidence-based therapeutic techniques to treat both. \nThis virtual training is free to attend and is intended for mental health clinicians and those who have clinical experience with trauma\, PTSD\, and grief. \nBHTEN is a co-sponsor of this workshop. SUMMARY:Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Substance Use Disorders
DESCRIPTION:Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that uses the four core skills of mindfulness\, acceptance & distress tolerance\, emotional regulation\, and interpersonal effectiveness to treat out-of-control behaviors\, including suicide and self-harm. There is a large overlap between problem substance use and suicide behaviors\, for which DBT-SUD is a good option for intervention for many individuals. Further\, for individuals with certain comorbidities\, DBT may be the treatment of choice. This training will familiarize you with some key concepts and help you distinguish differences between standard comprehensive DBT and DBT-SUD. \nThis free\, virtual training is open to anyone in the CBH/DBHIDS network\, but is especially relevant for providers and clinicians working with SUD populations. Having a basic understanding of DBT is preferred\, but not required for attendance. \nBHTEN is a co-sponsor of this workshop. CEUs are available.

SUMMARY:Family Therapy for Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder & Intellectual Delay
DESCRIPTION:This workshop focuses on supporting clinicians in viewing the family as a critical partner in care when working with youth with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual delay (ID). Why? ASD and ID profoundly impact family life. Clinicians will learn about mastering critical skills\, including how to build and maintain rewarding family relationships\, creating growth-enhancing family-based social activities for non-verbal or limited verbal youth\, and parent-guided behavioral therapy techniques. \nThis introductory program will demonstrate\, using video-recorded sessions\, how clinicians use a family systems lens integrated with play and behavioral therapy to strengthen the joining process with caregivers. Underlying this process is the focus on enhancing executive parenting through guided in-session practice\, especially caregiver-child co-regulation. \nThe target audience will be professionals working with families and youth diagnosed with ASD and IDD who would like to increase their ability to provide meaningful intervention. This may also include clinicians who work in outpatient\, drug and alcohol programs\, community-based services\, and residential treatment facilities. \nBHTEN is a co-sponsor of this workshop. DESCRIPTION:CBH annually reviews all resolved complaints and grievances and the Provider Satisfaction Survey (PSS) results. The purpose of this is to gauge CBH Quality Management’s performance per provider report\, obtain provider feedback\, and identify themes for levels of care across complaints and grievances. \nAs has been done for the past several years\, CBH will once again hold several information sessions on the complaint and grievance process and discuss identified themes. The sessions will review not only the complaint and grievance process but also the provider’s expectations of CBH and the expectations CBH has of the providers.
